Description
The automated bug reported displayed an AV error: "Access Violation at address 0060b402 in module cobugcgi.exe. Read of address 7". See the enclosed screengrab,

This occurred after I had entered an incorrect email address in the previous dialog.  Clicking "previous", fixing the typo, and re-sending worked without a crash.

Steps to Reproduce:
1: Induce an IDE crash(for example, as follows:-

a: Open "Welcome Page"
b: click on "Users Guide (PDF)
c: click on "Edit" menu in IDE menubar
d: oops!  (I'm sure this is logged in QC elsewhere, so don't panic)

2: Now, select "Details" from the AV dialog,

3: Select "Send" to report crash into QC automatically.

4: Follow the wizard to the account information field.

5: Enter any invalid BDN email address/password combination

eg Email Address: dannythrope@mircosoft.com
    Password: thanksforallthefish

6: You'll get an Access Violation message as per the screenshot.

I get the same error, over and over again.  If you click on the "QualityCentral" link in the Tools Menu you will get this error.  You also get this error if you try to send a bug report that is not anonymous ( using the IDE ).  I have tried downloading the latest version of qualitycentral.exe from the web and I get the same error when I try to log in.

I don't get that error when I click on QualityCentral in the Tools link. Try removing your .ini file from the qualitycentral directory.

John, I've added detailed steps to reproduce this bug, which is still happening today. (The AV with PDFs and the Edit menu is used purely to bring the bug reporter into play, I believe it's already logged in QC...?)

Thanks much, Roddy. I was able to reproduce it. I've moved the report to the start page, because that's also a bug, and I'll open it now.

Does your suggestion of removing qc.ini relate to my original report, which AFAICT doesn't involve the windows QC.exe client? (using jedQC now, BTW)

Chris Morgan at 1/9/2006 7:20:05 AM -
I just got a very similar AV when attempting to login to
QC from the Tools menu in D2006.
However, after logging into the web client, I can now
load QualityCentral successfully from the D2006 IDE.
Is this anything to do with expired cookies?

John Kaster at 3/12/2006 1:47:36 PM -
The Windows client does not use the browser cookies in any way, so I think this was just coincidental.
