This also affects me and my colleague using JBuilder 2006 (on EVERY startup), with the exception that the error dialog does not suggest copying the regXXX.txt file to the home directory. He uses windows and I use linux. I will also note that
on both operating systems the license error dialog appears _underneath_ the jbuilder splash screen (ie not visible). Under linux the jbuilder application stupidly tells the window manager not to allow the user to manipulate it's splashscreen windows, so users are not even able to move or lower the splash to access the license error dialog.

Anyway after _much_ hassle I discovered that putting my reg file (named exactly as it was in the activation email) into my home directory allowed jbuilder to start up without the problems. So, this should be listed in the Workarounds section, however it is not acceptable for borland to expect us to keep these files around polluting our home directory. At any time I could forget that I need that file there and delete it and wind up with these activation problems again. If you are going to look for it in a specific place, named with a specific filename, then look in your ~/.borland directory and don't bother wasting our time asking for it's location.

Please change the severity from 'extreme corner case' as it seems to me that it would affect all jbuilder 2006 users who do not 'just happen' to save their reg file in the right directory with the right filename.
