ABSTRACT: AUTHOR S NOTE: Although it is very difficult to cover this topic in a regular session I have submitted abstracts for both a preconference tutorial and a regular session.

Learn everything you need to know to install, configure, maintain, monitor and troubleshoot InterBase. Topics include

   Multi-instance installation on Windows & Linux
   Silent installation using configuration files on Windows and Linux
   Connecting to InterBase in single and multi-instance environments
   Using and managing server side aliases including their impact on security
   Connection troubleshooting including multi-instance, firewall and configuration issues
   All aspects of security including physical and operating system security
   Over-the-wire security options
   Server user authentication
   Embedded user authentication
   Access rights to database objects  including users, roles, grant, revoke, stored procedures and views
   Configuring InterBase for maximum performance including database cache size, settings in the ibconfig file, forced writes, group commit and journaling

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY: Bill Todd is President of The Database Group, Inc., a database consulting and development firm based near Phoenix. He is co-author of four books and over 100 articles on database programming and is a member of Team Borland, providing technical support on the Borland Internet newsgroups. He has presented over two dozen papers at Borland Developer Conferences in the U.S. and Europe.
