Description
In report list allow to specify any width of column
Ex. right now Report No column not allowed to be smaller when Display length of "Report No". In this case we have half of column space unused.
This is appear to be a limit only if column has been sorted
More description for situation:
Any unsorted column has a logic when a part of the text which do not fit column width just cut.
Same logic would fit column with sorting mark.
Header for column will have reserved space on right side for mark display. This will affect visible portion of text the same way how for unsorted column.
This is how many grid implementations with sorting works today, for ex. DevExpress QGrid.
Because text will be cut same way how it is cut for unsorted column here will be no difference in functionality of column.

I guess I personally don't see the purpose in this. If I sort on a field I want to see the full name of the field so I have known what I have sorted on.

I do. I frequently have may fields open and heavily use the sorting ability. I would love to be able to, for example scrunch Report No down by half, or Total Ratings done by 80% so I can see more without scrolling.

This is just limitation of current implementation of the grid used in Report list
This limitation not appear in case if column is not sorted, you could do width of the column as small as you want. But grid doesn't allow to do this for sorted columns.

This is unlikely to be done. That is John Kaster's control, and while I have in the past made changes to it, I don't have the time to start rewriting major portions of the display code.

Do you have a plan to use 3rd party components for this?
There are many of them, and free one as well

There are no plans to switch to a third party control.

Can limitation to be removed
I guess it is just comment one line

The column gets resized so the header text is displayed, a little bit of space, then the arrow. Would you rather the arrow just overwrite the text? It's a pretty trivial change to make in the code, since the display logic is in one routine.

I have found that this column can be resized when the report list is sorted by another column. I general it appears that any column that is used as the sort criterion that can't be resized. You could try sorting by another column, then resizing the report no. column, then sorting by report no.
