Description
In Delphi 7 translated form could be opened both in the ITE/ETM and in the form designer.
The latter kept the ability to use the object inspector, *and any extended editor*, like those found in ExpressQuantumGrid, for example.
Now the forms opens only in the ITE, and any extended property editor is unavailable. It's a huge step back since Delphi 7.
Steps to Reproduce:
1) Create a new Delphi Win32 VCL project with a form
2) Add a TTreeView, right click, open the items editor and add a few items
3) Add Language support to the project (Project, Language, Add)
4) Open the ITE for the form
5) Select "Show Translated Form" from the toolbar
6) Try to activate the TreeView or change its properties with Object Inspector -> this is not possible!
While this might seem non-essential for a TTreeView it is absolutely vital for a number of 3rd party components, e.g. DevExpress' QuantumGrid

Another good reason *not to upgrade* to Delphi 2006. The improvements in Win32 features are counterbalanced by huge step backs in basic features like this. I would need much more time to translate forms in D2006.

I have been strugling with the Translation Manager in D7 and decided to use Korzh' Localizer instead. It is highly recommended.

I am porting a project already working in D7 using the translation manager. I have really no time now to invesigate alternatives, learn to use them and retranslating everything from scratch - and ask more money to be spent after upgrading other libraries.
I will step back to D7 instead, and keep using it as long as I could.

Would you mind updating the steps to use a standard VCL component, like TTreeView? That way it is far easier for R&D to reproduce and they wouldn't get the impression that DevEx' QuantumGrid is required. Feel free to leave a remark that while this might not seem essential for a TTreeView it is for a wide range for 3rd party components, like the cxGrid.

The Q&A team is free to test with whatever they want. The steps are easy enough they don't need my help. I I am not paid to test Delphi, I paid for it and I wish it could work, didn't lose features, and became less productive
Codegear should start to pay attention to their best partners too. Frankly, if it was not for Developer Express and other excellent third party libraries, I would have quit using Delphi years ago. None of the best applications written in Delphi I see around are written just using the plain VCL, that is becoming to show its age really.
I don't care it it work with standard VCL controls or not. The only standard VCL control I use perhaps is TForm - just because I did not find a better one yet. If it does not work with the control I use - and it's not an obscure control noone else uses - well, that's only another reason to keep on using D7 and look for others IDEs meanwhile.

First, I'm not a CodeGear employee but a volunteering QC sysop.
My suggestion to update the report to use a TTreeView was mainly to avoid misunderstandings with Q&A. I'll update the steps myself and will bring the report up with the CodeGear folks.
Maybe it has to be changed into an enhancement request because disabling the design of translated forms was a - rather unfortunate - design decision.

*It's not an enhancement request*. That looks more a regression bug - something that was working before now does not work. When creating the new IDE, someone overlooked that. Before one could open the form in the ITE, or in the IDE. They "embedded" the ITE tool and the result was a missing functionality. I do not want to see it "fixed in the next rel". I am really tired to upgrade just to see bugs fixed.
It's things like this that makes me feel it's time to abandon Delphi and look for a tool that still improves release after release, not that lose pieces behind.
