Description
Sorry to cross-post, but there's not much in this area, and I think this is important. Anyone moderating this can dump one or the other of my posts if you want. (The other is No. 44189 in Demos.) In any event, here it is:
Background: My experience with PHP is very limited, although I have been using C++Builder since it came out and Delphi before that since it came out, so I am not new to programming.
What I need: Simple examples for use of each of the non-trivial components (not buttons and edit boxes and stringlist stuff).
For example: I tried to use a MonthCalendar calendar component and found out that there is no documentation on how to:
1. Programmatically set the month and year displayed initially
2. Read the date selected by a user (either on click or when the user presses a button on the form)
3. Hide the time-related stuff at the bottom of the calendar
And so on.
In BCB the Properties are generally right there in the Object Inspector, in D4PHP some are, but not the ones you want.
In BCB the Methods are displayed in the help, in D4PHP the help that is available is simply a self-condemnation of Doc-O-Matic.
In BCB the Events are displayed in the Object Inspector, and in D4PHP I don't have a clue what events are even missing or where they are.
ALL THAT HAVING BEEN SAID HOWEVER, I see D4PHP as having a real chance of being the much-sought -after successor to Delphi and C++ Builder in the transition of do-it-yourself programming for individuals and small businesses in the increasingly overly-paternalistic world of Microsoft operating systems. I look forward to its development and wish you all the best!

I agree, however I am coming from the opposite angle. I have > 10 years PHP experience and zero "Delphi" or RAD experience... So I am looking at a big RAD D4PHP environment with no idea how to begin.
I too tried that Calendar thing by creating a form with a text box and a calendar widget thinking I could make it so I clicked on a button, calendar would popup, you select the date and it would populate the text box (just like thousands of web pages) except it seems I can't access the necessary properties to link the objects.
I also created a VCL wrapper around some code I had previously written which appears to compile ok, but now I have no idea how I can use it!
