Sometimes It seems changes to the project options are not saved in the corresponding .dproj file. In the past week I encountered a couple of projects which had explicit output path in the project option, and I wanted to remove the path, but although everything seemed ok and the projects were saving without any problem, I couldn't have compiled them because the compiler couldn't use the output path! I tried restarting the IDE, and checked project source files and options dialog to find any reference to the specified output directory, but I found nothing! At last I decided to take a look inside the .dproj file, and there I found a couple of refernces to the already deleted Output path. I removed them manually, and in both cases the projects compiled without any other problems.
So I think the .dproj has some problem with saving and restoring some project options.

I tried to make  reproducable steps, but I had no success.
Just to make it more clear, most of the times that I this problem, I was trying to compile a package project file upgraded automatically from D2007 to D2009.
