Zips that come as attachments of messages in the Attachments forum can't be downloaded by users of Internet Explorer 8. It works fine in Firefox, Opera and Safari.
Steps to Reproduce:
Start IE8
Navigate to:
Click the attached "" attachment to download it.

Exp: usual Open or Save dialog
Act: error message pops up:

[Window Title]
Windows Internet Explorer

Unable to download from

Unable to open this Internet site.  The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found.  Please try again later.

I'm guessing the attachment was uploaded with Xananews. Is this correct?

No for instance the following attachment was uploaded by using Window Live Mail:

It is not just zip files also f.i. png (and AFAIK *any* attachment) can't be downloaded when using IE8:

The problem is much wider. I can't download any attachemnts from this thread:

...with ANY webbrowser. I tested, IE8, Chrome, FF, and some download managers. None of them could download fully any of those attachemtns (

This is not related to the reported issue.

During the server move of March 2010, a lot of attachments were lost.
If you need any of the older attchements, ask in the attachment group, there are still some people with the original attachments.
I'll repost the latest from the thread you mentioned.
